Commerce is moving into the chat: Meta's data

Vietnam is among the world's leading countries for sales closed in chat. The figure is Meta's, and it explains why a link is no longer enough.

In January Meta presented its data on social commerce in Vietnam in Hanoi, and VietnamPlus summed it up like this: 94 percent of Vietnamese internet users are active on at least one Meta platform, and the country "has long ranked among the world's leading countries for business-to-consumer interactions via chat".

The report's headline is about artificial intelligence and messaging. But the sentence that carries weight is that one: the sale happens in the conversation.

What "conversational commerce" means

It means the customer does not go to a website, does not put anything in a cart, does not fill in a form. They write. "Do you have it in blue?" "How much with shipping?" "Can you hold it until tomorrow?" And they buy right there, in the same thread of messages.

Meta calls it "conversational commerce in the AI era", and the report describes automated assistants answering questions on prices and deliveries during livestreams. 93 percent of the Vietnamese small businesses surveyed say they have already used AI tools.

Fine. But at some point the customer's question ends, and the sale begins. And a sale needs one thing no automated assistant produces for you: the document. The quote with the right figures. The confirmed order. The receipt.

The friction point: everything that leaves the chat

If the sale lives in the conversation, every thing that forces the customer to leave the conversation is a point where the sale can die:

  • the link to a website that opens in another app, where the customer gets distracted;
  • the PDF sent by email, which the customer will open "later";
  • the "I'll send you everything tonight", which means never.

The document has to be born for the chat. Arrive in the thread, in the right form for that moment, without anyone having to go anywhere else.

How Yataio does it

Yataio is built from this: every document — quote, order, receipt — is born ready to be sent into a conversation. And you send it in three forms, choosing on the spot:

  • formatted text, which pastes into the message and reads without opening anything;
  • image, which the customer sees immediately and cannot edit;
  • PDF, when something needs printing or passing to an office.

Before sending you see a preview, as it is. The customer receives the document in the same chat where they asked, and the conversation carries on without interruptions.

94 percent of your customers are already in chat. The document has to reach them there.

The three ways to send a document are in the guide. On not losing orders that arrive between messages there is an article here; on the messages you type the same every time, here.
